Mexican-Asturian director and producer with a Master’s from film.factory, Bela Tarr’s school. Her short Dobro premiered at Cannes 2016, and her feature The Chaotic Life of Nada Kadic at Berlin 2018. In stop motion, she produces with Cinema Fantasma, working on the TV series Frankelda’s Book of Spooks (HBOMAX, two Quirino Awards), the feature film in development The Ballad of the Phoenix (winner at Ventana Sur, MIFA Pitches, Annecy 2022), and the first Mexican stop-motion feature I Am Frankelda (opening film at Guadalajara Film Festival 2025, Annecy 2025, and Audience Award at Fantasia 2025).
Marta is the director of episode 3 of the stop-motion series Women Wearing Shoulder Pads (Adult Swim, USA), where she is also an executive co-producer. She is developing her second fiction feature, Down the Hall to the Right (Cannes Residency, three awards at Torino Feature Lab), and the short film Sometimes Things Are Not What They Sound Like (Shortway, Pixelatl 2025, MiAnima 2025).
