Frankelda is Now Released!

After much anticipation, yesterday the film Soy Frankelda, the first fully Mexican stop-motion animated feature, began its commercial run in cinemas across Mexico.

The production by Cinema Fantasma, directed by Roy and Arturo Ambriz, premiered this year at both the Guadalajara Festival and Annecy, and after some adjustments, it now begins its run in Mexican movie theaters. If you saw it at its premiere, you should watch it again because it includes some new sequences.

Festival Pixelatl 2025

At Pixelatl, we have witnessed Frankelda’s journey — from its original conception, to its pilot premiered at the 2019 festival, the series announcement made at the 2020 festival, and its release a year later, as well as the agreements and progress that the Ambriz brothers shared with us at each festival year after year. It is, in many ways, a beloved production that feels very close to us, and we are extremely excited!

So take the opportunity to go to the cinema, watch it, and celebrate this great milestone in Mexican animation.

See you at the cinema!
