Mario Muñoz is a director who brings his creativity to advertising, film, theater, and animation.
In 2008, Mario directed his first feature film, the thriller Bajo la Sal, produced by Warner Bros. and premiered in competition at the Morelia International Film Festival. This marked his first collaboration with René Castillo, who created the stop-motion scenes within the film. Bajo la Sal received three Ariel nominations and won Best Actress. His second feature, Los Minutos Negros, was a film noir thriller acclaimed by critics, earning eight Ariel nominations, three awards, and selections at festivals worldwide.
In 2024, he directed the animated social campaign Tenemos que hablar, which has been selected at several international festivals, including the Quirino Awards, Collision Awards, and Annecy. He is also the director and creator of Luli y Gabo, an animated children’s series developed for GNP Seguros, featuring 22 episodes and over 200 million views on YouTube.
