Community as a Way to Heal

Community is the place we come from and return to when we need it. The place we turn to heal our wounds and regain the strength to try again.

It is the space where we form our identity, where we learn to relate to and accept one another. And where we feel confident being ourselves.

It is your family, your friends, those people with whom you share values, joys and sorrows, needs and work, time, experiences, and hope.

We believe that the first step toward healing our world is restoring our social relationships. This means building community not only with those who are already like us, but also with those we know to be distant and different.

Is that possible?

We know it is, and there is one way we have proven it: focusing on what we have in common, on that which unites us.

Because we don't have to be the same or think alike, nor do we have to convince one another. On the contrary: each of our differences and diversities enriches us as a group and broadens our horizons and possibilities.

But first we have to understand that being human is a vast landscape of possibilities, as many as there are people in the world, and that regardless of the distances of time, cultures, and experiences, deep down we are all the same: limited, vulnerable, in need, and full of dreams and potential.

From that shared condition, we can learn to live together and work together, and to support what helps us all.

If we build community, we heal ourselves and heal the world.

This is the revolution we believe in.

About the Manifesto: Each year we publish a manifesto reflecting the social circumstances and the place we occupy as a community. It also serves as the foundation for developing the creative concept and visual identity of that year's festival.

This time, the manifesto takes a different form: phrases or statements, each expressing the principles we believe in and that support what we do. For that reason, and in an effort to explain each one a little further, we have decided to publish it in parts, with one article dedicated to each statement.
