One of the most emotional moments of the festival is always the awards ceremony. Here, we share the complete list of winners from our various competitions.
Awards for Excellence
Chinelo Animation
The award for Best Mexican Student Short Film went to El tono del mar, directed by Mica Bolaños Meade.
Additionally, the Lucy Animation scholarship was awarded to the short film Miedo, directed by Angel Iván González De La Macorra Pérez.
Two honorable mentions were also given:
- Selah, directed by Maya Lugo
- Esotérica, directed by Erika Salazar
The award for Best International Student Short Film went to Tapir Memories, directed by Pedro Nel Cabrera from Colombia.
This year, we also introduced the Experimental Short Film category, and the winner was Maleza, directed by Carina Pierro Corso (Portugal, Spain).
Finally, the Chinelo Award for Excellence in International Short Film went to Wander to Wonder, directed by Nina Gantz (Belgium).
Comic of the Year
The award for excellence in published Mexican comics went to Foráneo, by David Espinosa 'El Dee'.
Game of the Year
The Chinelo for Best Latin American Video Game went to The Lullaby of Life, developed by 1 Simple Game and published by Midwest Games.
Ideatoon Awards:
The 2024 Ideatoon Award went to A su mecha, directed by Perry Esparza Aguilar.
The Animation! Ventana Sur award went to the project Foldara, directed by Danna Galeano, Alina Stempa, and Addi Rosales.
An honorable mention was also awarded to the project Corazón animal, directed by Ana María Castiblanco and Julián Manrique.
SecuenciArte Awards:
The Chinelo-winning comic for SecuenciArte was Xolo, by Driu.

Paal
The winning project of Paal, the illustrated children's story competition, was ¿Cómo suena el amor?, by Efrén Victoria.
Shortway
The 2024 Shortway Award went to Agua Dulce by Daniela Capó and Roque Vázquez from Costa Rica.
Additionally, the following honorable mentions were awarded:
- Fear of the Lord, project by Santiago Esparza (Mexico)
- Látigo Negro, project by Patricia González (Chile)
- Mirror Balcony, project by Daniel Hincapié (Colombia)

- VMX Showroom: Heart of Artemisa, developed by Camacebra Games
- Pitch Me the Future: Tacubaya, directed by Karen Viajera
- Mezcal Koch Award: Montse Castillo
